John Kendrick Skinner, VC

John Kendrick Skinner (1883-1918), Company Sergeant Major in the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He received the Victoria Cross during the Battle of Passchendaele on 18 August 1917. He was killed in Vlamertinghe, Belgium, on 17 March 1918 by being shot between the eyes when attempting to rescue a wounded man. His pall-bearers were all recipients of the Victoria Cross.
