Limerick-born Maurice West Guinness (1897-1991) who later became a Shell Oil executive stationed in Puerto Rico. He wrote mystery novels under the pseudonym Mike Brewer and in the 1930s joined forces with Muna Lee (1895-1965) with whom he wrote mystery novels under the pseudonym Newton Gayle.
